Alice Kelly Tournament

Leading up the Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament the ladies get their turn to reel in the Big One! The Alice Kelly Tournament is an annual event the Sunday before the Billfish Tournament. The 21st Annual Alice Kelly Tournament, held August 8th with registration on August 7th, 2010, is a fund raiser event for the Outer Banks Cancer Support Group. With an entry fee of only $500.00 per boat it is a great way to help out your community and have a great time on the water!

27th Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament

The 27th annual Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament, held August 9th-13th, 2010, is a world-class event and home to the State Record Blue Marlin caught on the 25th Anniversary of the tournament, weighing in at a whopping 1,228.5 pounds! Top Prize money is big - $850,000 based on 120 entries! Check the schedule of events for all the entertainment and activities throughout the week. To enter, download the registration form and rules. 5th Annual Tuna Round-Up 06/30/11 - 06/30/11

The Tuna Round-Up is the kick-off event for the Pirate's Cove Big Game Tournament Series. The tournament is held annually the weekend after Memorial Day, with registration on Thursday and fishing on Friday and Saturday. The dates for the 2011 6th Annual Tuna Round-Up are June 2nd-4th.

7th Annual Carolina Boat Builders Tournament

The Dare County Boat Builders Tournament is a release-only event, open to any custom sportfish boat built in North and South Carolina. In addition to the basic entry, two Calcutta categories and a game fish category are also offered.

The event, supported by sponsors, local businesses and partners within the marine industry, raised $75,000, which will fund future student scholarships in Dare County. Last year's tournament raised $35,000 and funded 12 scholarships for Dare County graduating seniors and college students.

In addition, all food provided at each night's reception was donated by local restaurants: Kelly's, JK's, Jonny Marlins, Sam & Omie's, Basnights Lone Cedar, Awful Arthurs, 1587, The Dunes, Ortega'z Southwestern Grill, Owen's and Sugar Creek.

The mission of the Dare County Boat Builders Foundation is to develop, encourage and promote public awareness of the historical and cultural heritage of boat building in Dare County and to support educational opportunities for students.
